Short Title:
Artisan Analytics: eBook Lessons From Small Datasets

Most analytics assumes large datasets are available and accessible. In practice one or both may not be true. What challenges do small-scale analytics present, and can they yield actionable data? Daniel Johnson presents the evidence collected from a Biobook, a Gates-funded iPad textbook.

Daniel Johnson is a Teaching Associate Professor of Biology at Wake Forest University, and his research focuses on biology education.

The Student Learning and Analytics at Michigan (SLAM) Seminar series features both U-M faculty and visitors from other campuses, focusing on the use of data about students, courses and academic programs -- for the purposes of improving teaching and learning.
